Scott J Starr

Scott Starr is a four-time Emmy® award-winning television writer/producer.  He was raised in Reading, PA before attending Millersville University of Pennsylvania where he earned a B.S. degree in Speech Communication:  Broadcasting.  He spent 4 years learning the basics of television production at a company in Lancaster, PA  that created instructional videos.   He started as a freelance production assistant and left as a staff producer on one of the company's biggest accounts.

 

He then became a graduate teaching assistant for The Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University where he earned an M.S. in TV-Radio-Film.  In 1994 he moved on to New York City and a job as a production assistant for the documentary series The System at Court TV where he spent 6 years.  During that time he also wrote and produced show opens and teases for several live evening programs; eventually becoming a producer of on-air promotions for the network.  

 

For the next 9 years he created a variety of promotional content for The Montel Williams Show, Lifetime Television, myLifetime.com,  Time Warner Cable's Road Runner High Speed Online,  MIO.tv,  New Line Cinema, The Travel Channel, Style Network and four daytime judge shows for Sony Pictures Television. Beginning in 2009, and for the next 5 seasons, he was the Emmy®-winning tease producer for The Dr. Oz Show; creating in-show promos to best drive ratings and maintain viewer interest. 

 

Beginning in the fall of 2015 Scott became the promo producer for the second and final season of the nationally syndicated Meredith Vieira Show from NBCUniversal; creating on-air topicalimage and sweeps campaigns for this daily 1-hour talker.  He also produced the acclaimed retrospective video in the last segment of the final episode.

 

He continued at NBC as promo producer for Harry; Harry Connick Jr.'s daily 1-hour nationally syndicated daytime show with a late night feel that launched in the fall of 2016.

 

In October 2016 he began a freelance editor/producer position for MSNBC Creative Services.  He's created image spots for Morning Joe and the ongoing This is Who We Are on-air campaign.

From 2010-2017 he was a special projects producer for CBS Marketing Group; creating on-air campaigns for CBS This Morning, The CBS Evening News, Face The Nation and CBS Sunday Morning.

In September 2017 he joined the team launching "DailyMailTV" as Promo, Opens and Teases producer.  DailyMailTV is an Emmy-winning daily 1-hour syndicated entertainment news program based on the wildly popular website DailyMail.com.  

Scott loves the latest smart phone photo editing apps.  He resides in Harlem, 2 blocks from Central Park, and enjoys hopping on his bike or walking his retired racing greyhound, Harley to take advantage of what NYC has to offer!
